The Crests este unul din grupurile ale caror melodii erau destul de des alese la celebrele tonomate. In componenta initiala a grupului se afla si Patricia Van Dross, sora mai mare a mult mai cunoscutului Luther Vandross. In 1960, solistul grupului, Johnny Maestro, a parasit trupa alegand o cariera solo. The Crests nu au mai inregistrat decat o piesa notabila (“The worst that could happend” – 1969), iar in 1978 grupul s-a despartit definitiv.
