‘Louis Prima’

La inceputul anilor 1950, Louis Prima nu avea cea mai buna situatie financiara, iar sotia sa era insarcinata, drept pentru care artistul accepta sa sustina spectacole intr-unul din cazinourile din Las Vegas, The Sahara. In 1956 artistul a inregistrat piesele de pe albumul The Wildest chiar pe scena cazinoului. “Just a gigolo” este o prelucrare a unui cantec austriac din 1928 si a fost legata de o alta piesa foarte veche – “I ain’t got nobody” din 1915. Ce a iesit din “joaca” lui Louis Prima este unul din momentele de neuitat in muzica mijlocului de secol 20.

Louis Prima, cantaret, actor, compozitor isi isi formase in anii ‘50 o trupa pop rock care imbina intr-o maniera inovatoare, jazz-ul, rock and roll-ul si blues-ul. Este autorul celebrei piese “Jungle Book” scrisa in 1967 pentru casa de filme Walt Disney. Cantecul “When you’re smiling” face parte din albumul The Wildest din 1957.
