In ciuda faptului ca a fost lansat in 1949 ca fata B a single-lului “Detroit City Blues”, “The fat man” devine primul hit al lui Antoine Domino si ii asigura acestuia si porecla de scena “Fats”. Este unul din cantecele care se bat pentru titlul de prima inregistrare rock and roll, un titlu care, mai mult ca sigur va ramane neatribuit.

Fats Domino este unul din marii artisti americani, cantaret, pianist si compozitor atat in zona r&b cat si rock and roll. Blue Monday a fost una din primele piese rhythm and blues care au ajuns in primele pozitii ale clasamentului Billboard.

Fats Domino se lansa in muzica in 1949 cu hitul “The fat man” care se vindea in peste un milion de exemplare. Cantecul “Blkueberry” este cel mai mare hit al muzicianului. Lansat in 1956 s-a vandut in 5 milioane de copii si astationat pe prima pozitie in clasamentul r&b 11 saptamani.
