Jerry Lee Lewis – Great Balls of Fire
You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain
Too much love drives a man insane
You broke my will, oh what a thrill
Goodness gracious great balls of fire
I learned to love all of Hollywood money
You came along and you moved me honey
I changed my mind, looking fine
Goodness gracious great balls of fire
You kissed me baby, woo…..it feels good
Hold me baby, learn to let me love you like a lover should
Your fine, so kind
I’m a nervous world that your mine mine mine mine-ine
I cut my nails and I quiver my thumb
I’m really nervous but it sure is fun
Come on baby, you drive me crazy
Goodness gracious great balls of fire
Well kiss me baby, woo-oooooo….it feels good
Hold me baby
I want to love you like a lover should
Your fine, so kind
I got this world that your mine mine mine mine-ine
I cut my nails and I quiver my thumb
I’m real nervous ’cause it sure is fun
Come on baby, you drive me crazy
Goodness gracious great balls of fire
I say goodness gracious great balls of fire…oooh..
Dion and The Belmonts – Runaround Sue
Here’s my story, its sad but true
It’s about a girl that I once knew
She took my love then ran around
With every single guy in town
Ah, I should have known it from the very start
This girl will leave me with a broken heart
Now listen people what I’m telling you
A-keep away from-a Runaround Sue
I miss her lips and the smile on her face
The touch of her hair and this girl’s warm embrace
So if you don’t wanna cry like I do
A-keep away from-a Runaround Sue
Ah, she likes to travel around
She’ll love you but she’ll put you down
Now people let me put you wise
Sue goes out with other guys
Here’s the moral and the story from the guy who knows
I fell in love and my love still grows
Ask any fool that she ever knew, they’ll say
Keep away from-a Runaround Sue
She likes to travel around
She’ll love you but she’ll put you down
Now people let me put you wise
Sue goes out with other guys
Here’s the moral and the story from the guy who knows
I fell in love and my love still grows
Ask any fool that she ever knew, they’ll say
Keep away from-a Runaround Sue
Buddy Holly – You’re The One
You’re the one – that’s a-causing my blues
you’re the one – I don’t want to lose
you’re the one that I’d always choose
you’re the one that’s meant for me
You’re the one – that I’m thinking of
you’re the one – that I’ll always love
you’re the one – sent from heaven above
you’re the one that’s meant for me
Sometimes you make me feel so bad
you make me cry deep in my heart
I feel like an actor in a play
who doesn’t fit the part
You’re the one – and I want you to know
you’re the one – that thrills a-me so
you’re the one – I can’t let you go
you’re the one that’s meant for me
Connie Francis – Stupid Cupid
A insemnat revenirea solistei in primele pozitii ale clasamentelor vremii.
Stupid Cupid you’re a real mean guy
I’d like to clip your wings so you can’t fly
I’m in love and it’s a crying shame
And I know that you’re the one to blame
Hey hey, set me free
Stupid Cupid stop picking on me
I can’t do my homework and I can’t think straight
I meet her every morning ’bout half past eight
I’m acting like a lovesick fool
You’ve even got me carrying your books to school
Hey hey, set me free
Stupid Cupid stop picking on me
You mixed me up for good right from the very start
Hey now, go play Robin Hood with somebody else’s heart
You got me jumping like a crazy clown
And I don’t feature what you’re putting down
Well since I kissed her loving lips of wine
The thing that bothers me is that I like it fine
Hey hey, set me free
Stupid Cupid stop picking on me
You got me jumping like a crazy clown
And I don’t feature what you’re putting down
Well since I kissed his loving lips of wine
The thing that bothers me is that I like it fine
Hey hey, set me free
Stupid Cupid stop picking on me
Hey hey, set me free
Stupid Cupid stop picking on me
The Platters – Twilight Time
Heavenly shades of night are falling, it’s twilight time
Out of the mist your voice is calling, ’tis twilight time
When purple-colored curtains mark the end of day
I’ll hear you, my dear, at twilight time
Deepening shadows gather splendor as day is done
Fingers of night will soon surrender the setting sun
I count the moments darling till you’re here with me
Together at last at twilight time
Here, in the afterglow of day, we keep our rendezvous beneath the blue
And, in the same and sweet old way I fall in love again as I did then
Deep in the dark your kiss will thrill me like days of old
Lighting the spark of love that fills me with dreams untold
Each day I pray for evening just to be with you
Together at last at twilight time
Here, in the afterglow of day, we keep our rendezvous beneath the blue
And, in the same and sweet old way I fall in love again as I did then
Deep in the dark your kiss will thrill me like days of old
Lighting the spark of love that fills me with dreams untold
Each day I pray for evening just to be with you
Together at last at twilight time
Together at last at twilight time
Eddie Cochran – Summertime Blues
I’m a-gonna raise a fuss, i’m a-gonna raise a holler
about a-workin’ all summer just to try to earn a dollar
well one time i called my baby, tried to get a date
my boss says, no dice son, you gotta work late
sometimes i wonder, what i’m agonna do
but there ain’t no cure for the summertime blues
Ooh well my main and papa told me
son you gotta make some money
if you wanna use the car to go ridin’ next sunday
well i didn’t go to work, told the boss i was sick
now you can’t use the car ’cause you didn’t work a-late
sometimes i wonder, what i’m a-gonna do
but there ain’t no cure for the summertime blues
I’m gonna take two weeks, gonna have a fine vacation
i’m gonna take my problem to the united nations
well i called my congresman and he said quote
i’d like to help you son, but you’re too young to vote
sometimes i wonder, what i’m a-gonna do
but there ain’t no cure for the summertime blues
Paul Anka – Crazy Love
Cantecul “Crazy love” in varianta inregistrata din 1958…
…si in concert la Bucuresti.
Crazy love it’s just a crazy love
I love you so but I still know
It’s a crazy love
Crazy love it’s just a crazy love
What must I do to get through to you
Oh my crazy love
Everything’s wrong heaven above
Set me free from this crazy love
Don’t don’t don’t don’t you see
What you are doing to me
You upset my heart right from the start
With your crazy love
Crazy love,crazy love
Crazy love,crazy love
The Isley Brothers – Twist And Shout
“Twist and shout”(1961) a fost primul hit bine pozitionat in topurile pop si r&b al celor de la Isley Brothers. Era un cover dupa piesa lansata de o trupa reprezentanta a genului calypso, Top Notes, cu un an mai devreme . Versiunea formatiei Isley Brothers aduce piesei elementele rock and roll care ii asigura succesul pe piata muzicala. Acelasi succes il are si Beatles in 1964 cu “Twist and shout”.
Aah
Well, shake it up baby, now!
(Shake it up, baby)
Twist and shout!
(Twist and shout)
Well, come on baby now
(Come on, baby)
Come on and work it on out
(Work it on out – ooooh!)

(Look so good)
You know you got me goin’ now
(Got me goin’)
Just like I knew you would
(Like I knew you would – ooooh!)
Aah
Shake it up baby, now!
(Shake it up, baby)
Twist and shout!
(Twist and shout)
Come on baby now
(Come on, baby)
Come on and work it on out
(Work it on out – ooooh!)
You know you’re a twistin’ little girl
(Twistin’ little girl)
You know you twist so fine
(Twist so fine)
C’mon and twist a little closer now
(Twist a little closer)
And let me know that you’re mine
(Let me know you’re mine)
Well, shake it – shake it – shake it baby, now!
(Shake it up, baby)
Well, shake it – shake it – shake it baby, now!
(Shake it up, baby)
Well, shake it – shake it – shake it baby, now!
(Shake it up, baby)
Carl Perkins – Everyboy’s Trying To Be My Baby
“Everyboy’s trying to be my baby”, “Matchbox” si “Honey don’t” sunt piesele lui Perkins preluate de celebra trupa britanica.
Well they took some honey from a tree
Dressed it up and they called it me
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby now
I Woke up last night half past four
Fifteen women knockin’ at my door
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby now
Went out last night mean to stay late,
fore home I had nineteen dates
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby now
I Woke up last night half past four.
Fifteen women knockin’ at my door
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby now
Well they took some honey from a tree
Dressed it up and they called it me
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby
Everybody’s tryin’ to be my baby now
Chuck Berry – Rock And Roll Music
Chuck Berry s-a numarat printre primii muzicieni care au primit includerea in Muzeul Rock and Roll Hall of Fame la deschiderea acestuia in 1986. Artistul a fost recunoscut ca unul dintre cei care a inovat si transformat stilul rhythm and blues in ceea ce avea sa devina muzica rock and roll. “Rock and roll music” era un hit al anului 1957 si totodata poate fi considerat un manifest muzical al cantaretului si al muzicii rock and roll.
Just let me hear some of that
Rock and roll music,
Any old way you choose it;
It’s got a back beat, you can’t lose it,
Any old time you use it.
It’s gotta be rock and roll music,
If you want to dance with me,
If you want to dance with me.
I’ve got no kick againt modern jazz,
Unless they try to play it too darn fast;
And change the beauty of the melody,
Until they sounded like a symphony,
That’s why I go for that
Rock and roll music …
I took my loved one over cross the tracks
So she can hear my man await a sax,
I must admit the have a rockin’ band,
Man they were going like a hurricane
That’s why I go for that
Rock and roll music …..
Way down south they gave a jubilee,
The jockey folks they had a jamboree,
They’re drinkin’ homebrew from a water cup,
The folks dancin’ they all got shook up
And started playin’ that
Rock and roll music ….
Don’t care to hear ‘em play a tango,
I’m in the mood to dig a mambo;
It’s way to early for a congo,
So keep a rockin’ that piano
So I can hear some of that
Rock and roll music …
Rosemary Clooney – Mambo Italiano
Actrita si cantareata Rosemary Clooney si-a inceput cariera muzicala in 1948. Dupa primul sau hit “Come on-a my house” si cateva duete cu Marlene Dietrich, in 1954 i se ofera un rol in filmul “White Christmas” cu Bing Crosby. In acelasi an Bob Merrill scrie cantecul “Mambo italiano” pentru Rosemary Clooney care ajunge pe locul intai in topuri atat in Statele unite cat si in Marea Britanie.

Patti Page – Changing Partners
Succesul Artistei Patti Page la inceputul erei rock and rol se datoareaza si faptului ca in cantecele pop a introdus elemente de stil specifice genului country.
Versiunea cantaretei Patti Page a piesei “Changing partners” este cea mai cunoscuta desi in acelasi an, 1953, alti 3 artisti de top Dinah Shore, Kay Starr si Bing Crosby realizau inregistrari ale aceleiasi piese.
We were waltzin’ together to a dreamy melody
When they called out “Change partners”
And you waltzed away from me
Now my arms feel so empty as I gaze around the floor
And I’ll keep on changing partners
Till I hold you once more
Though we danced for one moment and too soon we had to part
In that wonderful moment somethin’ happened to my heart
So I’ll keep changing partners till you’re in my arms and then
Oh, my darlin’ I will never change partners again
Though we danced for one moment and too soon we had to part
In that wonderful moment somethin’ happened to my heart
So I’ll keep changing partners till you’re in my arms and then
Oh, my darlin’ I will never change partners again
